State Of The Chapter

The 2006-2007 edition of Baton Rouge Alumni Chapter officers were installed on Wednesday, July 19, 2006.  The event was held in the Camelot Room of the Chase One Bank in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  The installation culminated a very successful administration by our now Past Polemarch Willard Labrie.  During Past Polemarch Labrie’s administration, Baton Rouge Alumni became the largest financial chapter in the Southwestern Province.  We would also like to formally thank our beloved Past Polemarch, Willard Labrie for his tireless efforts in helping us to become “the largest chapter in the largest province”.

It seems like yesterday that the 2005-2006 year was beginning.  What a terrific year it has been!

We have exceeded all of our goals and expectations.  Our efforts during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita proved to ourselves and the world that “we are our brothers’ keeper” and brought us both national and international recognition. Through the help of National Headquarters and Grand Polemarch Samuel Hamilton and through the efforts of our own Senior Grand Vice Polemarch, Dwayne Murray, Esq. and our very own Hurricane Katrina Committee, we were able to raise thousands of dollars for our fraternity brothers in need.  In addition, we were able to receive three truck loads of supplies for the evacuees of these terrible storms.

The promotion of our golf tournament in addition to our reclamation and membership orientation and intake efforts expounded the benefits of membership within this noble clan and attracted great interest and increased our membership.  We have welcomed many new members into the Chapter since 2003 and we now have well over one hundred active members. Many of them have already become very active in the Chapter.  Our newest members have pitched in to help our various committees with programs and events, provided tremendous support to those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and solicited donations for the very successful Walter Banks Sr. Kappa Klassic golf tournaments that are held annually.

The primary reason for the Chapter’s success this past year was the ability to work as a team and focus on what would benefit all members, both of this chapter and the fraternity as a whole.  The growth and success of Baton Rouge Alumni stems from the willingness of each Chapter member to become a part of the team.  Decisions are based on what is best for the Chapter as a whole, not the individual.

We look forward to the continued and increased contribution of all members this year.  We donated our time and raised funds to help a variety of local causes and we were able to help with contributions to the Katrina and Rita relief efforts.  Thanks to your involvement and generosity, our promotion of community service and fraternal outreach has been extremely successful.

Yours In The Bond,

Kenneth W. Wright,

Polemarch, Baton Rouge Alumni
