Dwayne M. Murray, Esq., was sworn in as Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi on Saturday, July 14, 2007 during the 78th Conclave which was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prior to being elected Grand Polemarch, Brother Murray was elected to the office of Senior Grand Vice Polemarch during the 76th Grand Chapter meeting. He is a charter member of the Lafayette Alumni, where he served as Keeper of Records. He has been elected Province Alumni State Board Member and Senior Vice Province Polemarch of the Southwestern Province. He was 1st appointed Province Polemarch by Past Grand Polemarch, the Honorable Robert L. Harris, Esq. of California and re-appointed by Past Grand Polemarch, the Honorable Ronald R. Young of New York in 1995.

Attorney Dwayne M. Murray, was the first African American appointed to the Chapter 7 Panel of Trustees for the United States Middle District Bankruptcy Court. Attorney Murray is the Senior Partner in the law firm of Murray & Murray Personal Injury and Bankruptcy Attorneys. His commitment to having more professional and lay persons fully understand the political process has resulted in his servings as Chairman of the Louisiana Legislative Day for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.In addition, he has been recognized during the Louisiana Legislative Session, by the Louisiana House of Representatives as an "Honorary State Representative." The former Governor of Louisiana conferred upon him the distinguished honor of "Outstanding Citizen" for untiring dedication to the betterment of Louisiana and service to the community.

Attorney Murray was elected by his peers to a three-year term on the board of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees (NABT). Attorney Murray assumed office on September 13, 2006. The NABT is a nonprofit organization established in 1982 to address the concerns of bankruptcy trustees nationally. The association consists of Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 trustees. Its associate members include judges, U.S. trustees, auctioneers, appraisers, insurance agents, bankers, attorneys, and accountants. The organization distributes approximately $1.5 billion each year to creditors and administers over one million cases annually.
A Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi and a 1977 initiate of the Theta Nu Chapter at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, he has affiliated with the Opelousas (La) and Lafayette (LA) Alumni Chapters, and is currently a member of the Baton Rouge (LA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi.
His commitment to young children is exhibited through the creation of Kappa Kamp (An Experience in Leadership Training, Education and Motivation). A program developed by Brother Murray that is fully supported by personal and corporate sponsorships. Young males between the ages of 12-16 are provided with instruction in Meteorology, Astronomy, Math Made Easy and Leadership/Team Building. The program has been approved the Grand Board of Directors as Kappa Alpha Psi's newest national service initiative. His fundraising ideas in Kappa Alpha Psi are varied and have resulted in what is termed Project 90,000. The project goal is to create a tier of provincial charter life members for the Southwestern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi. All funds are being used to develop a base of operational capital to underwrite the cost for any increase in membership dues.
As a Charter Member of the Million Dollar Club of the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Brother Murray was instrumental in getting the Province to pledge its financial support to the philanthropic arm of Kappa Alpha Psi. He is responsible for Bank One (now Chase) being a 5 year contributor to the Guide Right efforts of the fraternity.
As a presenter and workshop leader for Kappa Alpha Psi, Brother Murray has presented papers on Understanding Executive Orders 1,2 and 3, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, The Appeals Process, Risk Avoidance, Conducting A Disciplinary Hearing, Training the Advisor, Risk Avoidance and others. He holds the Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and obtained the Juris Doctorate from the Southern University Law Center. His personal goal in Kappa is to "… leave a legacy of contributions to the youth of America."
